The redemption season for Saquon Barkley continues to hit some unfortunate speedbumps or potholes. That bad luck continued this weekend as Barkley has officially been ruled out for the New York Giants for a game against the Carolina Panthers.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, via Twitter, Barkley is now hoping to be able to be back on the field for the Giants within the next two weeks. The Giants are on the road next week against the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 1 and host the Las Vegas Raiders on Nov. 7.

Barkley injured his ankle in a game against the Dallas Cowboys in week 5. Barkley did not play in a game against the Los Angeles Rams last weekend, a 38-11 victory for the Rams.

Barkley missed basically the entire 2020 season with a torn ACL and is now piling up more games lost to catch up to his career-rushing touchdown total in the NFL.

The Giants are 1-5 this season, putting them at the bottom of the NFC East entering the weekend. And with Barkley missing more time, conversations about drafting the Penn State running back with such a high pick a few years ago continues to grow louder and louder in the New York sports media landscape.
