From Town & Country

Since the coronavirus pandemic began, Sarah, Duchess of York has been posting regular updates on her Instagram page about efforts to help those on the frontlines. And today, she announced that she is launching a new charity called Sarah’s Trust with an immediate focus on helping NHS, care home, and hospice workers dealing with the crisis. A statement also shared that Sarah and her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, have “personally funded and donated hundreds of items.”

The statement explained that Sarah’s Trust will act as a bridge between those who can give philanthropically and organizations which are providing help where it is most needed. In the Trust's efforts to help frontline workers during the pandemic, they are connecting suppliers of essential and luxury goods to hospitals, care communities, and hospices.

So far, more than 150,000 deliveries including food, masks, scrubs, and toiletries have been made to more than 80 locations. Beneficiaries include 12 hospitals in London, and the Trust has also been working with organizations to deliver 500 "kipbags" including sleeping bags and toiletries to homeless people in London and Luton. In addition to these efforts in the UK, supplies have been sent to rural areas of Ghana, a statement said.

“I am incredibly excited to be bringing all of my charitable causes under one roof with Sarah’s Trust. It’s something I have wanted to do for a long time,” Sarah, Duchess of York said.

“We will focus on a whole range of causes, all across the world, but at this terrible time it’s right that our first projects should be to help to contend with the impact of coronavirus both at home and abroad.”

She added that it has been “humbling” to see the “incredible work” being done, saying: “I’m proud that, working with my daughters and new colleagues at Sarah’s Trust, we’ve been able to make life a little easier for some of [the frontline workers].”

Princess Eugenie, too, has been sharing her volunteer work on social media in recent weeks. Last month, she posted on her Instagram page that she and husband Jack were at the Salvation Army packing trolleys for food banks across the UK.
