The Duchess of York is opening up on what it was like to attend Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's nuptials.

Sarah Ferguson's relationship with the royal family is somewhat on-again, off-again, due to her split from Prince Andrew (and tabloid-dominating scandal). She was not invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding back in 2011, but for Harry and Meghan's, she was welcomed back into the fold. Ferguson also played a starring role at her daughter Princess Eugenie's royal wedding just last month.

When asked by Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain about the invite, the Duchess had this to say: "I just think that Her Majesty is an incredible lady. What an icon to the country, and one of the finest people I've ever met. She leads by such example and to include me is a wonderful gesture... Her Majesty knew me from a little naughty age ten... I can't thank Her Majesty enough for being so steadfast to me." The comment lead to speculation that it was Queen Elizabeth herself who extended the olive branch.

She then went on to describe Harry and Meghan's wedding, and how she found herself thinking about Princess Diana. "The minute I started to walk I was thinking of Diana in my heart and my mum," she said. "No one made me laugh better than [Diana]. She had this enormous compassion and I think she would be so proud of Meghan and Catherine as well."

Ferguson offered thoughts on how Diana would've felt, as well. "She'd really be so proud," she said. "Even before they got married, Diana would have been literally saying 'I can’t believe these boys have done so well.' They are such a credit to her."
