Sarah Jessica Parker's connection to witchcraft and Salem, Massachusetts goes far beyond her role in the 1993 Halloween classic, "Hocus Pocus."

The "Sex and the City" star, who was born in Nelsonville, Ohio and later lived in Cincinnati, was featured on season one of NBC's genealogy series, "Who Do You Think You Are?," which aired in 2010. Parker returned to Cincinnati in the episode, and also learned that her 10th great-grandmother was accused of witchcraft during the Salem Witch Trials.

A 1692 court deposition obtained by Ancestry.com shows a 17-year-old accuser claimed they saw Esther Elwell, Parker's relative, "squeezing and choking" a woman who died from mysterious causes. Elwell was arrested for committing "sundry acts of witchcraft" but was not convicted, as her arrest was the last formal accusation of the trials before the Court of Oyer and Terminer was dissolved.
