SARALAND, Ala. (WKRG) — After decommitting from Alabama hours following Nick Saban’s retirement, 5-star receiver Ryan Williams has recommitted to the Crimson Tide. The Saraland star confirmed his decision to play in Tuscaloosa in a social media post on Wednesday.

Williams re-opened his recruitment on January 10th and visited Auburn and Texas A&M earlier this month. He canceled a weekend visit to Texas (scheduled for January 27th). National Signing Day is February 7th. Williams initially committed to the Tide in October 8th, 2022.

The 2022 Mr. Football winner reclassified to the 2024 class in December after another stellar season on the field. Williams recorded 71 catches for 1,320 yards and 19 receiving touchdowns. He also recorded scores rushing and on special teams with a punt and kickoff return.

Williams led the Spartans to a 14-1 season with a second straight trip to the Class 6A championship game. Interestingly, the state title game against Clay-Chalkville was played at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa.

Williams later played in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic and the Under Armour All-America Game. He won MVP honors in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star game after posting 92 yards on eight catches with two touchdowns in Hattiesburg. Williams added a receiving touchdown and threw a 2-point conversion in the All-American game in Orlando.

The move gives new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer a potential cornerstone in his high-octane offense. Under DeBoer, the Washington Huskies ranked second in the nation in passing offense (343 yards per game) this past season. Receivers Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk both recorded more than 1,000 yards.
