Sarasota bicyclist dies after being hit by SUV in Manatee County, Florida troopers say
A Sarasota man has died after being hit by an SUV while on his bicycle this weekend in Manatee County, Florida Highway Patrol said Wednesday.
The 52-year-old was riding his bike and trying to cross U.S. 41, north of 22nd Avenue West, FHP said in a news release.
A 31-year-old Bradenton woman driving an SUV was in the northbound right lane, and swerved to avoid the cyclist, but the left front of the vehicle hit him, the release said.
The man was taken to the hospital with critical injuries, and he died Wednesday.
The crash remains under investigation.
