Friends of Myakka River launchesnew community 'roadshow'

Friends of Myakka River, a nonprofit dedicated to Myakka River State Park and the Wild and Scenic Myakka River, recently introduced a community “roadshow” as part of its new Outreach and Environmental Education Program.

"By meaningfully sharing Myakka’s magic with our community, we aim to raise awareness about important conservation and restoration efforts at Myakka River State Park,” said executive director Miri Hardy, who launched the initiative in March at the Sarasota Garden Club. “Such outreach is especially important with projects like the ongoing floodplain marsh habitat restoration, where public support and buy-in can directly impact project success.”

The presentations use photographs and storytelling to help the community better understand the park's fragile ecosystem. For more about Friends of Myakka River, contact Miri@FriendsOfMyakkaRiver.org.
