Saratoga County Sheriff: Lake Luzerne man drowns in Hadley

Jun. 27—HADLEY — A 46-year-old man from Lake Luzerne drowned in water under the Rockwell Street bridge Saturday, according to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office.

Will Bennett was identified as the drowning victim.

Deputies from the sheriff's office and other emergency crews went to the area after receiving reports of a man in distress at about 5 p.m..

The man had last been seen jumping from rock ledges beneath the Rockwell Street bridge. Bystanders tried to rescue Bennett, to no avail.

The Sheriff's Office thanked the good Samaritans, along with the Corinth, South Glens Falls, and the Hadley Luzerne fire departments for their efforts. New York State Forest Rangers and the Warren County Sheriff's office helped in the search and recovery.
