SARC's annual 'Walk A Mile In Her Shoes' returns in April

Mar. 23—Local men will slip on their best high-heeled shoes on Saturday, April 1 as they walk down Main Street in Bel Air for SARC's 15th annual "Walk A Mile In Her Shoes" event.

The international men's march is a playful opportunity to rally support in the community and raise awareness about the causes, effects and remedies for sexual assault and domestic violence against women, according to a news release.

Male walkers will be provided with shoes while supplies last. Women and children are invited to participate.

Students from C. Milton Wright High School will be on hand face paint. C. Milton Wright High School's marching band will kick off the walk. Complimentary coffee will be offered, a DJ will pump up the walkers, and games such as cornhole will be part of the festivities.

Registration for the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. next to the former Black Eyed Suzie's restaurant at 119 S. Main Street in Bel Air. The registration fee is $25 per walker, $5 for students with their student ID.

To register to walk and to build your own team, visit SARC's website, sarc-maryland.org. Walkers can pay their respective registration fee, start or join a team, set a goal and begin raising money. You can also search for other participants and donate toward their goals.

The goal set for this year's walk is $60,000; so far, approximately $16,000 $11,803.81 has been raised.
