Sartell, Sauk Rapids-Rice, ROCORI start strong in CLC dance meet

ST. CLOUD — The Central Lakes Conference dance meet took place early in the 2021-22 season on Friday night at Apollo High School.

This night included a handful of Class AAA schools and Class AA schools with some strong competition between every team.

There were six teams that competed in high kick and jazz with St. Cloud not performing on Friday night. Sartell earned second place in both high kick and jazz with some tiebreakers between Brainerd.

Sauk Rapids-Rice was right behind the Sabres in third place for both categories and ROCORI earned fourth in jazz and fifth in high kick.

High Kick

The top spot was determined through two tiebreakers between Sartell and Brainerd, but the Warriors ended up with the top spot. Both teams finished with a 4.5 ranking and over 400 total points.

Sartell had top categories in choreography, difficulty and routine effectiveness to total 403 points out of 500. The Sabres received a 44 in visual effectiveness, 42 in creativity and routine effectiveness and 41 in difficulty of kicks and difficulty of formations and transitions.

Sauk Rapids-Rice was right behind Sartell in third with a ranking of 10 and 308 points out of 500. The Storm earned top points in kicks, difficulty and routine effectiveness. The team earned a 34 on kick height, 33 on creativity and 32 in four different categories.

ROCORI finished in fifth place with a ranking of 14.5 with 281 points out of 500. The Spartans scored top points in choreography, kicks and routine effectiveness. The team earned a 31 in visual effectiveness and difficulty of kicks, 29 in kick height and creativity and 28 in three categories.

Jazz

Brainerd and Sartell once again competed for that top spot and, once again, the Warriors came out on top. Brainerd earned a ranking of four and Sartell had a five, but the Sabres had two more total points in the 10 categories.

Sartell finished in second place with a total of 419 points out of 500. The Sabres earned high points in skills, choreography and routine effectiveness. The top scores came with a 43 in four categories including: technique of leaps and jumps, creativity, visual effectiveness and routine effectiveness.

Sauk Rapids-Rice was again right behind the Sabres in third place with a ranking of 9 and 337 points out of 500. The top categories for the Storm came from routine effectiveness, difficulty and choreography. The team earned a 36 in three categories including: routine effectiveness, difficulty of skills and difficulty of routine choreography.

ROCORI was right behind the Storm in fourth place with a ranking of 12 and 283 points out of 500. The Spartans had top points the categories of routine effectiveness, choreography and difficulty. The team had a 31 in creativity and difficulty of skills and 30 in difficulty of routine choreography and routine effectiveness.
