STORY: Scandinavian airline SAS has resumed talks with its pilots over ending a strike.

The stoppage is now in its tenth day, and it’s costing the airline dear.

The 75-year old carrier was struggling even before the global health crisis hit air travel.

Now the strike is costing it up to $13 million per day.

It’s been forced to cancel more than 1,200 flights at the height of the summer holiday season.

On Wednesday (July 13) about 75% of those scheduled were cancelled.

SAS last week filed for bankruptcy protection in the U.S.

That’s to give the firm breathing space to restructure its business.

Its main owners are the governments of Sweden and Denmark.

Unions are talking to management over a new deal on pay and conditions.

They also want all pilots who were dismissed during the health crisis to be rehired.
