Satellite Shows Cyclone Biparjoy Swirling Toward Pakistan and India

Evacuations and warnings were issued to parts of India and Pakistan on Tuesday, June 13, as Cyclone Biparjoy moved toward the region.

The “very severe” cyclone was expected to bring strong winds, heavy rainfall, and storm surges to the area, the Pakistan Meteorological Department said. Heavy rain was expected in Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, according to the department.

In western Pakistan, evacuations were underway June 13, local emergency management officials said on Tuesday.

According to India’s meteorological department, the cyclone was expected to impact its peninsular region by Thursday evening.
