Saturday night Upton crash leaves 18-year-old dead, 4 others seriously injured

UPTON — An 18-year-old Uxbridge man died following a crash at the intersection of Glenview and Pearl streets in Upton Saturday night.

Jacob Osanya was in the front passenger seat of a 2019 Acura ILX sedan which was headed north on Glenview Street just after 9 p.m., when the vehicle left the road and struck a tree and overturned, police said.

Gabriel Dias De Holanda, 18, of Bellingham was driving, according to police.

The driver and three passengers in the back seat, identified as Gabriel Brandao, 20, Julio Da Silva, 19, and Abraham Seri, 18, all of Milford, were able to free themselves from the vehicle.

Police said they suffered serious injuries that aren't believed to be life-threatening.

All of the victims were taken to UMass Memorial Medical Center — University Campus in Worcester for treatment.

Osanya, who was freed from the vehicle in an "extensive extrication" by firefighters and EMTs, died later at the hospital police said.

Police said the crash is under investigation by members of the Upton Police Department, the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (CEMLEC) Collision Reconstruction Team and investigators from the Worcester District Attorney’s Office.

Upton Police and Fire/EMS were assisted at the scene with extrication and transport of the victims by mutual aid from Hopkinton, Mendon, Westborough and Northbridge,
