Here are Saturday's high school sports results

BOYS VOLLEYBALL

Appleton North 3, Kimberly 2

GREEN BAY - The Lightning rallied from a 2-1 deficit in sets and defeated the Papermakers 25-16, 23-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-11 to advance to the WIAA state tournament.

Jadon Ciriacks had 14 kills and 13 digs for Appleton North, while Gavin Tate had 11 kills and Connor Cantrell had 10 kills. Cantrell also had a team-high 38 assists. Alex Ramus had 22 digs for Appleton North. Ben Griffith had 10 digs.

Appleton North will be making its eighth state tournament appearance and first since 2014.

Kimberly was led by Aaron Nelson and Kevin McGrath with 40 assists and 32 digs, respectively. Nelson also had 16 digs. Lucas Eckrose had a team-high 17 kills as well as 23 digs. Kade Grall had 10 kills and 25 digs. Brady Koester had 11 kills and six blocks.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Division 1

Appleton North 3, Kimberly 0

GREEN BAY - The top-seeded Lightning defeated the second-seeded Papermakers 25-16, 25-18, 25-19.

Appleton North will be making its eighth state tournament appearance and fourth straight.

Kimberly was hoping to return to the WIAA state tournament for the first time since 2018. It would have been Kimberly’s 13th appearance.

Oconomowoc 3, Manitowoc Lincoln 0

OCONOMOWOC - The Raccoons defeated the Ships 25-18, 25-15, 25-16.

Oconomowoc, the defending Division 1 state champion, will be making its sixth appearance at the state tournament, all coming since 2015.

Manitowoc was hunting for its fifth tournament appearance and second in the last three years.

Division 2

Xavier 3, Tomahawk 0

WAUPACA - The Hawks defeated the Hatchets 25-15, 25-15, 25-13 to advance to the state tournament for the first time since 2009.

Xavier will be making its fifth overall appearance.

Tomahawk was vying for its sixth appearance and first since 2014.

Division 3

Howards Grove 3, Shoreland Lutheran 0

OOSTBURG - The Huskies defeated the Pacers 25-6, 25-12, 25-13.

Howards Grove will be making its seventh state tournament appearance and fourth straight. It will be going for its fourth straight state title and fifth overall.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood 3, Edgar 2

AUBURNDALE - The Chargers defeated the Wildcats by rallying from a 2-1 deficit, winning 25-20, 19-25, 12-25, 25-19, 15-13.

Wittenberg-Birnamwood will be making its first appearance at the state tournament.

Edgar was trying for its first state tournament appearance since 2003.

Division 4

Monticello 3, NEW Lutheran 1

OSHKOSH - The Ponies defeated the Blazers 23-25, 25-12, 27-25, 25-12 to advance to the state tournament.

NEW Lutheran was led by Greta Wise with 16 kills and 18 digs. Abby Kirchner had 27 assists and 13 digs. Lexi Dhein had a team-leading 19 digs. Emma Laatsch added seven kills.

Monticello will be making its second straight tournament appearance and second overall.

NEW Lutheran was going for its third state appearance and first since 2007.

Athens 3, Wabeno/Laona 0

OCONTO FALLS - The Fighting Bluejays are headed to the state tournament for the first time after defeating the Rebels 25-17, 25-17, 25-17.

Wabeno/Laona was hoping to make its second consecutive and second overall appearance at the state tournament.

BOYS SOCCER

Division 1

Hudson 2, Oshkosh West 0

MARSHFIELD - The Wildcats were unable to find the back of the net and as a result, the Raiders from Hudson are headed to the state tournament.

It will be Hudson’s 12th appearance at the state tournament and third year in a row.

Division 2

Pulaski 1, Tomah 0

PULASKI - The Red Raiders advanced to the state tournament with a win over the Timberwolves.

Ben Uelmen scored the goal in the 28th minute for Pulaski (19-4-1) and the Red Raiders made that goal stand up.

Pulaski almost fell behind in the first minute of the match as Tomah’s Ty Richer nearly found the back of the net.

Mason Baker had six saves for Pulaski, which heads to the state tournament for the first time since 2014.

Pulaski had nine shots on goal while Tomah had six. Trevor Johnson had 11 saves for Tomah.

Division 3

Notre Dame 2, Plymouth 1

SEYMOUR - The Tritons return to the state tournament following their victory over the Panthers.

The Tritons will be playing in their 11th state tournament, including third straight.

Notre Dame, which trailed 1-0 at halftime, got a pair of second-half goals from Emmett Lawton.

Arturo Ottum-Cortez had three saves for Notre Dame.

Plymouth was looking for its sixth state tournament appearance and first since 2018.

Division 4

Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran 1, Sturgeon Bay 0

KIEL - The Eagles shut out the Clippers to advance to the state tournament.

Sheboygan Christian/Lutheran will be making its third appearance in the state tournament as a co-op program. Sheboygan Christian had appeared three times prior to Sheboygan Lutheran teaming up with them. Sheboygan Lutheran had one state tournament appearance as a stand-alone program.

Cristo Rey Jesuit 3, Oostburg 0

RACINE - The Flying Dutchmen failed to score in their loss to the Trailblazers.

Oostburg was making a bid for its fourth state appearance and second straight.

Cristo Rey Jesuit will be making its first appearance.
