Saturday's Top Prep Performers: Local athletes post top times at Arcadia Invitational

Highlights from Saturday in high school spring sports:

BOYS TRACK AND FIELD

At Arcadia Invitational

  • Oaks Christian: Chase Farrell was second in the invitational 100 (10.42), bettering the all-time area best of 10.46 seconds set by Rio Mesa's Jameson Jordan in 2010. Oaks Christian won the seeded 4x100 relay (41.09). Chase Hansen was third in the seeded 400 (47.89). Davon Benjamin was 10th in the open 200 (22.16). Deshonne Redeaux was 16th in the open 100 (10.98).

  • Newbury Park: Aaron Sahlman had the nation's fastest boys 800 time this season (1:49.07) in winning the invitational race. Aaron Cantu was 16th in the seeded 3,200 (8:57.26).

  • Ventura: Anthony Fasthorse placed third in the seeded 3,200 with a school-record 8:51.40. Micah Grossman was fifth in the rated 3,200 (9:01.06). Wyatt Schrader was third in the open shot put (53-4.25). The Cougars placed 11th in the invitational 4,000 distance medley (10:29.40) and sixth in the 1,600 sprint medley (3:39.33).

  • Westlake: Cade Sommers placed 10th in the invitational pole vault (15-3). Westlake bettered its school record in placing fifth in the seeded boys 4x100 relay in 41.96 and won the seeded 4x400 relay (3:18.15). Ife Orekoya was sixth in the open 200 (22.10).

  • Thousand Oaks: Jeremy Frank was second in the seeded 110 hurdles (14.39). The Lancers placed fifth in the seeded 4x400 relay (3:22.10).

  • Foothill Tech: Jonah Billings was 12th in the rated 3,200 (9:09.51). Cole Dinkler won the open pole vault (14-10).

  • St. Bonaventure: Delon Thompson was 12th in the open 100 (10.93).

  • Moorpark: Kade Larson was second in the open shot put (53-10.50) and 16th in the invitational discus (145=5).

  • Pacifica: Umaree Harris tied for 12th in the invitational high jump (6-2).

  • Royal: Jonah Bazerkanian was 27th in the invitational 3,200 (9:15.39).

GIRLS TRACK AND FIELD

At Arcadia Invitational

  • Ventura: Sadie Engelhardt lowered her national-leading time for the mile run (4:36,20) in winning the invitational event. Valentina Fahrogha won the open high jump (5-5). The Cougars placed 10th in the 1,600 relay (3:58.86).

  • Oaks Christian: Rayah Rodriguez won the seeded 400 (54.91). Niya Clayton was third in the open 100 (11.92). Eleanor Borchard was third in the open 300 hurdles (44.06). The Lions placed ninth in the 4,000 distance medley (21:21.33), second in the seeded 4x400 relay (3:53.46) and fifth in the seeded 4x100 relay (47.79).

  • Camarillo: Alana Sugue tied for fifth in the pole vault (11-6). Laynie Tuimaualuga was second in the open discus (126-6). Ava Crouse was 15th in the open shot put (34-5.75) and ninth in the discus (120-11).

  • Westlake: Ariella Per was 17th in the open shot put (33-2).

  • Oak Park: Kymara Brodie was 13th in the open 100 (12.15) and 11th in the open 200 (25.15).

  • Newbury Park: Kyra Terry was 18th in the open 100 (12.29).

  • Buena: Maddy Easter was 28th in the open 100 (12.37).

  • Royal: Quincie Richards was 12th in the open triple jump (35-8.25).

  • Calabasas: The Coyotes placed second in the invitational 4x400 relay (3:49.87) and second in the seeded 4x100 relay (47.40). Arielle McKenzie was 10th in the open 800 (2:14.20). Zoe Ray was fourth in the open 400 (56.33).

  • Thousand Oaks: Charlie Updegraff was 14th in the open 300 hurdles (45.24). The Lancers placed seventh in the 1,600 relay (3:57.82).

BASEBALL

  • Gavin Morales went 4 for 4 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored, Elijah Garcia was 2 for 4 with a double and three RBIs, Eric Barron had a double and two RBIs, Tanner Beltowski finished 2 for 3, Ty Weeks allowed two hits in three scoreless innings, and Miguel Magallanes allowed just one hit in two scoreless innings to lead Buena (14-6) to an 11-0, five-inning win over Village Christian in a nonleague game.

  • Alex Villacana allowed three runs in a complete-game effort and was 2 for 4 at the plate, Devon Wilkes hits a two-run home run (his fourth homer of the season), Jorge Rodarte went 2 for 4 with two RBIs, Riley Ortega was 2 for 2 with two sacrifice bunts, and Sergio Ruiz went 2 for 2 to lead Pacifica (7-9) to a 5-4 win over St. Bonaventure in a nonleague game.

  • Camarillo defeated Oaks Christian 9-3 in a nonleague game. Quentin Young hit a solo homer run and Dustin Disney had a triple and two RBIs for the Lions (10-7).
