Saucy Santana has hit the cover of Paper Magazine and we are loving it for him! This comes just days after he dropped a snippet of his newest single “Booty” and it already has fans ready to twerk sum this Summer. This does have us thinking about Santana’s trajectory these past few years and his rise as a Black gay femme rapper.

A cover feature this early in his career really stamps the type of future the artist will have. The interview mainly focuses on his growth in the industry. From being considered as just a friend of the City Girls, to dropping his first hit single, “Walk” to now covering magazines and performing at big name festivals. We mentioned that Lizzo may be having the best year out of all of us, but Saucy Santana is a close second.

Breaking Barriers

There was a void in the music industry where gay rappers were missing. Lil Nas X was able to partially fill that space when he came out as gay, but LGBTQ representation isn’t linear. Saucy Santana’s emergence into the industry was a refreshing reset. From the beard, to the beat face, colorful fits, bawdy and looks he serves, he really shows that no matter who you are, you too can make it.

New Music

In the article Santana mentions that his new single “Booty,” will drop later this month and that he is confident it will be the song of the Summer. Something about the Beyoncé sample really gets the fans hype to blast the track all day, everyday. He also mentions that he is currently in album mode and cannot wait to share his new music with his fans!

We are excited to see what the future has in store for the rapper and how he will continue to take up space in an industry where it’s well needed!
