Sault sweeps boys, girls titles at Cheboygan Invitational

CHEBOYGAN — Sault High swept its way to first place finishes in both the boys and girls meets at the Cheboygan Invitational track and field meet Monday.

The Sault boys scored 172 points, while St. Ignace was second with 142 and Cheboygan was third with 106. They were followed by Inland Lakes 89, North Trails 44, Pellston 29 and Rudyard 16.

Sault junior Cody Aldridge won the 800 (2:15.8) and 1600 (5:11.4),

Nate Koepp, Carter Oshelski, Alexander Jacek and Logan Haskins took first in 800 relay (1:41.5). David Jon Daley, Jonathan Willis, Kahle Jones and Logan Haskins won 3200 relay (9:28.9).

Aldridge, Haskins, Donnivan Dykraaf and Oshelski were third in 1600 relay.

Jonathan Willis was second in the 1600 and fourth in the 400. Carter Oshelski was second in the 200. Alex Jacek was third in the 100 and 200, while David John Daley was second in 3200 and third in the 1600. Kayle Jones was third in 3200.

Emmett Fazzari won discus and finished second in shot put. James Smith was fourth in shot put. Owen Rice took second in 300 hurdles and third in 110 hurdles.

Keenan Hoffman was fourth in the 800. Koepp took fourth in high jump and Oshelski tied for fifth. Rayce Rizzo was third in pole vault.

The Sault girls won with 185.5 points, followed by St. Ignace 141 and Cheboygan 99 to cap the top three. Inland Lakes was fourth with 93, followed by Rudyard 48.5 and North Trails 30.

Joanne Arbic won shot put (30-7.25) and discus (88-9.5). Event winners for the Blue Devils also included Abigail Walther in the 800 (2:49.3) and Cassandra Gallagher in the 3200 (13:36.6),

Isabella DeWildt, Mackenzie Bell, Bella Smith and Jayla Jorgensen won 400 relay in 54.4. Bell, Claire Erickson, Smith and Jorgensen won 800 relay in 1:55.9. Gallagher, DeWildt, Dayna Szabo and Walther won 3200 relay in 11:28.9.

Jayla Jorgensen took second in the 100 and third in the 200. Bella Smith was fourth in the 100 and fifth in the 200.

Dayna Szabo took second in the 400. Cassandra Gallagher was second and Walther third in the 1600. Alyvia Lori was fourth in the 3200. Brianna Jones took third and Claire Erickson fifth in 110 hurdles. Erickson was second and Jones third in 300 hurdles. Katie Anderson was second in shot put, while Abby Kachur was fourth. Anderson also took third in discus.

Ally Schultz of St. Ignace won the 100 dash (13.9) and 200 (27.7). Brooklyn Thibault (6-6) and Wisteria Brady finished 1-2 in pole vault, while Heidi Dorenbecker won long jump (14-6).

Rudyard’s Tristin Smith won the 400 and 1600 (6:09.7). Katlynn Pitts was fourth in the 400. Cheyenne Ballard was third in long jump, and fourth in 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles.

Sault High and St. Ignace are among the teams scheduled to run at the East Jordan Red Devil Invitational Thursday.
