Sauna workouts, Greek food and more heading to rapidly growing Leland shopping center

Several businesses are set to join the soon-to-open Lowe’s Home Improvement in the quickly expanding Leland Town Center area.

Located along booming U.S. 17, the Leland Town Center consists of several standalone properties and multi-tenant buildings. The development sits at the intersection of Gateway Boulevard and Ploof Road.

The development is managed by C&S Commercial Properties, a Fayetteville-based, multi-faceted real estate company. Currently, the center’s tenants include Aldi, Starbucks, Firehouse Subs and Chick-Fil-A. The newest additions to the area include Lowe’s Home Improvement – which is set to open this summer – and a Carolina Shores Car Wash currently under construction.

According to C&S Commercial Properties, a HotWorx and family-owned Wilmington Greek restaurant The Greeks are coming soon to the development, as well. HotWorx is a national chain workout studio offering high-intensity sauna workouts 24 hours a day. The studio has three locations in nearby Wilmington.

The Greeks announced plans to expand from Wilmington to Leland earlier this year and expects the location to open later this year or in early 2024.

Also under construction are two more multi-tenant buildings. Located behind the building housing Starbucks and Firehouse Subs, the 10,366-square-foot building can host four retail or dining spaces. One of those spaces would have a drive-thru window, site plans show.

Plans for another multi-tenant space behind the Aldi grocery store are also in the works. That building is expected to house two tenants – with HotWorx already planned for the 2,000-square-foot space. The other 2,400-square-foot space is unleased but plans show the site will have a drive-thru window and outdoor patio, indicating a restaurant could be moving in.

Pre-leasing has begun for the six total spaces in the two incoming buildings, according to C&S Commercial Properties, but which other businesses could be moving in remains to be seen.

According to the master site plan for the development, Leland Town Center could grow even more in the future. Plans indicate more than 50 acres of land to the east of Lowe’s Home Improvement – along Tradeway Drive and Gateway Boulevard – could someday hold two stand-alone restaurant buildings, a 30,000-square-foot gym, a building with seven retail spaces and a daycare building.

The development is part of Leland’s retail corridor, nearby the Wal-Mart and Harris Teeter, with several residential communities close by. Also under construction in the area are a Cook Out and 7-Eleven.
