The Savage X Fenty Show Is a Must-Watch on Amazon

If ever there was a clear-your-calendar type of fashion show, it’s the Savage X Fenty Show Volume 3, a literal extravaganza that just debuted on Amazon Prime Video. It watches like a short film meets extended-cut music video, with gorgeous set design, amazing choreography, some seriously big-name appearances, and costumes that aren’t actually costumes but, in a best-twist-ever type of situation, the mogul’s newest collection. Even better, a lot of the pieces are available to shop immediately on Amazon.
As a thing, fashion shows have been around for decades and gone through plenty of iterations. From intimate affairs organized exclusively for retail buyers to intricately staged events where the people-watching rivaled the clothes, there’s no one way to categorize what defines a runway. Leave it to Rihanna to go and flip things around even more, upending the format (a staged event with best-of-the-best production) and making the distribution truly inclusive. Forget exclusive tickets or hierarchical seating arrangements; by releasing the show on Amazon, she’s made it possible for everyone to watch, and for everyone to view it as if they’re the #1 most-important audience member.
The entire thing is seriously delightful. It’s got the pizazz (and musical guests) of a high-profile sporting event’s halftime show—but with clothes. It’s sexy, obviously, but freed from the constrictive, elitist feeling some lingerie gives off when being presented to shoppers (“Sure, it looks good on that stunning model, but what about real people?”).
The literal parade of body types and shapes lets you see just how good the pieces would look on anyone. And because the lingerie is moving—dancing, spinning, shaking, jumping—it feels more wearable than if it were posed statically on a bed. True to Fenty form, too, everything is available in a wide range of sizes.
