Save the date for Canton's new public garden dedication
Nov. 1—There will be big doings at the Pigeon River Orchard and Public Gardens in Canton from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, when the newly revamped public space will be showcased with a grand opening.
The event will include a craft fair, food trucks, guided garden tours and a noon ribbon-cutting ceremony with honored guests from the Cruso Endowment, the Kiwanis Club of Waynesville and Champion Credit Union, the event sponsor. There will be entertainment in the pavilion along with children's activities.
The Pigeon River Garden Club has worked diligently at both fundraising and gardening since early spring to create an oasis within the park where there is a wide variety of plant life thrives and a learning pavilion. The orchard is in the Canton Recreation Park behind Riverview Farm and Garden at 45 Penland St.
Vendors are being sought to participate in the event. To reserve a spot, contact pigeonrivergardenclub@gmail.com to request an application form by Nov. 1.
