Say Hello To The New Mulberry Bag

Move over Alexa Chung and Lana Del Ray - there’s a new Mulberry bag in town. [Photo: Rex]

A Mulberry bag is the ultimate coveted possession. A designer accessory that practically every style-savvy woman owns - or would walk over hot coals to own.

And there have been a great many styles to choose from over the years. The Bayswater, the Alexa and the Del Ray (inspired by the singer, Lana). But now that Mulberry’s got a newly appointed creative director, Johnny Coca, and back showing at London Fashion Week, we’re thrilled to report that a new bag made its grand entrance on the runway this afternoon.

Say hello to the Clifton.

The classic, over the shoulder handbag, is basically the ideal everyday bag - as all Mulberry arm candy pieces are. Boasting a gold or silve chain and available in an array of colours it’s the kind of piece that could work in any woman’s wardrobe. And we want it in ours.

It’s not all that surprising the the brand, who hasn’t shown at Fashion Week since its former CEO Emma Hill left in 2013, has an epic new bag to brag about. After all Coca was previously all about handbags at Céline - so he was always going to bring a lusted-after accessory to Mulberry.

What remains to be seen is how much it costs. But regardless, we hazard a guess it will be popular among the fashion elite - and those of us who can afford to spend three plus figures on a bag.
