The State Bureau of Investigation reported exposing a criminal scheme in one of the Kyiv Territorial Defense brigades, where military clothing was stolen and resold. The offenders were caught red-handed, the SBI website said on Feb. 28.

The scheme involved military brigades of the Territorial Defense, who wrote off the clothing, as well as civilians who were engaged in its illegal sale.

The plot was organized by one of the civilians. He stole bulletproof vests, helmets, winter and summer clothing, shoes, etc. from the unit, the SBI said. Then all the property was taken to a garage and sold online.

Law enforcement officers found large stocks of items with cut-off tags stating that the property of the Armed Forces was not for sale during the searches. The organizer and two people, one of whom was a military officer, were detained while selling property worth more than 2 million hryvnias ($52,427) at a "discount" of almost 50%.
