Counter Intelligence arrested a Russian informant in Kramatorsk who was collecting intelligence on the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Donetsk oblast, SBU reported in Telegram channel on Jan. 26.

The individual kept a hand grenade at home, intending to detonate it if law enforcement exposed him.

According to the SBU’s Telegram report, the perpetrator was surveilling the locations of Ukrainian Armed Forces units near Kramatorsk. He sought to identify anti-aircraft defense positions and heavy artillery positions of the Ukrainian forces.

The suspect was also preparing schematics of fortifications and engineering obstacles in the region for the aggressor. Using the obtained information, the occupiers planned to launch new missile and artillery strikes on the frontline city and its surroundings.

The SBU revealed that the enemy collaborator was a resident of Kramatorsk. In August 2023, he met a Russian woman on a dating site, collaborating with the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). Following her instructions, the man started collecting information about necessary military objects for the enemy.

He sent the gathered information to the Russian woman, who then forwarded it to an FSB officer fighting against the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the Avdiivka front.

SBU investigators notified the suspect of the charges related to sharing information without authorization concerning the movement or positioning of Ukrainian Armed Forces during a state of war.

Currently, the perpetrator is in custody, facing a potential 12-year prison sentence.

On Jan. 25, the SBU also detained a member of the Russian hacking group “People’s Cyberarmy” in Kharkiv, who was adjusting enemy fire on the city and preparing cyberattacks on Ukrainian government websites.
