Following weeks of infighting, the Republican Party found a resolution and elected Louisiana lawmaker Mike Johnson as the U.S. House Speaker Wednesday.

Johnson, who was the No. 5 Republican in the chamber, won the speakership 220-209. Hours of closed-door meetings, four votes, and negotiations tipped the entire conference in his favor. Even the holdouts who were against U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan's election flipped to support Johnson, despite Louisiana Republican's involvement in overturning the 2020 elections. Among South Carolina's congressional delegation, U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn, D-S.C., was the only person to vote for Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The rest of the Republican delegation, Congressmen William Timmons, Ralph Norman, Jeff Duncan, Joe Wilson, Russell Fry and Congresswoman Nancy Mace, voted for Johnson.

Here's what they said:

Third Congressional District Congressman Jeff Duncan:

“I am proud to have cast my ballot for the 56th Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson,” Duncan said in a press statement. “Congressman Mike Johnson is the most conservative Speaker that we have seen in our lifetime.”

Duncan said Johnson was a constitutional scholar. "As some states attempted to violate their own state Constitutions to unlawfully challenge election procedures in 2020, Mike personally led an amicus brief to the Supreme Court ― which I joined ― challenging these actions. His Constitutional analysis was not only praised by President Trump but also has been affirmed in countless Courts," he continued.

Duncan said he and Johnson have been aligned when it came to "commonsense, America-first policies that restore this country to what the Founders intended," the South Carolina lawmakers continued. "Together, we have supported medical freedom from forced COVID vaccines, demanded Congress balance the Federal budget, defunded any type of event that includes ‘sexually-oriented material’ for children, bolstered religious liberty, cut taxpayer dollars for Planned Parenthood, and championed Second Amendment Rights.”

“Mr. Speaker, let’s get the House back to work for the American people!”

Fourth Congressional District Congressman William Timmons:

"Today I will be casting my vote for Rep. Mike Johnson as our next Speaker of the House," Timmons said on X, , formerly known as Twitter. "Mike is a servant leader, a principled conservative, and a trusted friend. Let’s get Mike across the finish line today and get back to work!"

Fifth Congressional District Congressman Ralph Norman:

"Congratulations to our new Speaker of the House, Rep. Mike Johnson! We have a lot of work on the horizon, but our conference is finally united and the House is in great hands moving forward. Let's go!!"

First Congressional District Congresswoman Nancy Mace:

"The American people fought back against the Washington establishment when 8 of us in Congress forced the Speaker to vacate the office ― so we could find a reform-minded agent of change. We told everyone America needed a Speaker who would represent their interests, not Washington’s," Mace said on Twitter/X. "While we won’t always see eye-to-eye on everything with Mike Johnson, we achieved our goal ― the American people can be proud of their Speaker."

Seventh Congressional District Congressman Russell Fry:

"I have no doubt in Speaker Johnson's ability to unify and lead House GOP as we fight to secure our border, restore fiscal sanity to Washington, and make sure this administration is working for you."
