SC under tropical storm warning July 4th weekend. How it impacts Beaufort County
Parts of South Carolina are under a tropical storm warning.
The National Hurricane Center sent out its first advisory at 5 a.m. Saturday for Tropical Storm Colin.
A tropical storm warning was issued along the northeastern coast of South Carolina Saturdaymorning and is expected to move northeastward to the North Carolina coast Saturday afternoon and into Sunday.
The storm has formed near Myrtle Beach and will bring a threat of rip currents and rough surfs to the coastline of the Carolinas with the possibility of reaching as far north as southeastern Virginia, according to The Weather Channel. Warnings for the tropical storm are in effect from the South Santee River in South Carolina to Duck, North Carolina, as well as Pamlico Sound in North Carolina, where wind speeds can be expected to surpass 40 mph this weekend.
For those traveling Saturday and Sunday, areas expected to endure heavy rainfall may also expect localized flash flooding across coastal portions of the Carolinas through Sunday morning.
Beaufort County is not under any warnings for Tropical Storm Colin.
The tropical storm warnings for the northeastern coastline of the Palmetto State come this Fourth of July weekend, as celebrations begin to kick off Saturday and continue throughout the holiday weekend.
As of now, local events throughout the weekend in Beaufort County are still expected to continue without delay from this storm.
