The St. Clair County Community College Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting today to address the resignation of a trustee.

Trustee Nicholas DeGrazia emailed his resignation Dec. 15. He has been a member on the board since 2009.

"I am resigning as a trustee of St. Clair County Community College as of today," his email read.

"After almost 14 years of serving on the board, it’s time. Sandy and I plan to travel extensively.

"Please tell my colleagues on the board that I have very much enjoyed working with them on behalf of the community. I leave with great admiration for the leadership of Dr. Snyder, Kirk Kramer, and their team for helping us maintain financial stability and grow in many ways during these years of declining enrollment and reduced funding.

"I will continue to be a strong advocate for the college."

DeGrazia's term was to end in 2026.

At its special meeting, the board will go over its policies regarding resignations. People can apply for the board position between Dec. 20 and Dec. 30. Current board members will receive the applications on Dec. 31.

The board of trustees should select a new member by Jan. 9.

The meeting will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Room 150 of the SC4 Welcome Center.
