Schadewalds celebrating 60th anniversary

PETERSBURG – Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence E. (Larry) Schadewald of Petersburg are observing their 60th wedding anniversary today. A family dinner will take place today at the couple’s favorite restaurant, J&G Pizza Palace, Sylvania, Ohio.

Mr. Schadewald married Sharon A. Wells March 30, 1963, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield.

The couple’s children and their spouses are Leanne and Ron Goodin of Petersburg, Tom and Charlotte Schadewald of Whittemore and Chris and Lori Schadewald of Whitehouse, Ohio. They also have five grandchildren.

Mr. Schadewald was self-employed at L.E. Schadewald & Sons, The Space Station Mini-Storage and L&S Rentals, retiring in the early 2000s. He also owned Schadewald Salvage until 1984.

A 1961 graduate of Deerfield High School, he enjoys restoring antique cars, tractors and Cushman scooters; walking his dog; and working in his barn.

Mrs. Schadewald currently co-owns G&S Antique Spoon Jewelry & More. She also worked in the businesses with her husband until retiring.

A 1962 graduate of Summerfield High School, Petersburg, she has attended a monthly bunco club for 55 years. She also enjoyed antiquing and going to flea markets.

They are members of Light of Christ Catholic Church in Deerfield. For more than 30 years, until this year, the couple wintered in their RV in Florida. They enjoy Taco Tuesdays with friends and attending performances at the Croswell Opera House in Adrian.
