Scheels' 1st Arizona sporting goods store is getting ready to open. Here's when and where
Scheels is bringing one of its supersize employee-owned sporting goods stores to Arizona.
The store, which has been in the works at Chandler Fashion Center since it was announced in May 2021, will open on Sept. 30, 2023, according to the business' Feb. 22 social media post. A previous statement from the company said the store "will feature 220,000 square feet of premium retail adventure for the entire family."
Scheels stores sell a wide variety of gear and clothing: hiking, camping, hunting and fishing gear; fitness products; items for cycling and water sports; and more. Scheels, which is based in North Dakota, has 30 stores across more than a dozen states, including Arizona's neighbors, Nevada, Utah and Colorado.

What to expect at Arizona's first Scheels sporting goods store
The Chandler store will consist of 75 specialty shops and family-friendly attractions such as a 16,000-gallon saltwater aquarium, candy shop, café, sports simulator and arcade games.
In the middle of the store will be a Ferris wheel with 16 cars that will cost $1 to ride, according to ABC15. There will also be a wildlife mountain with life-size replicas of mammals, reptiles and birds, plus rollerball (miniature bowling lanes).
Where is Arizona's first Scheels opening?
The first Scheels store in Arizona will be in the former Nordstrom space at Chandler Fashion Center mall, 3111 W. Chandler Blvd.
