The characters of Schitt’s Creek were well known for their outlandish outfits, and when the show wrapped each castmember got to choose one to keep.

But Emily Hampshire who played the plaid-shirt wearing Stevie Budd had her eyes on something else when the series ended.

Speaking on Drew Barrymore’s chat show, the actress admitted she got quite light-fingered during the last days of filming.

"Well first of all I think I should preface this with, at the end of Creek everyone was allowed to take an outfit because all of the outfits were very expensive designer brands and I was like 'Um my outfits I brought from home, they are literally mine, so I don’t think this is fair at all'," she said.

"So, I took the giant stag painting behind Stevie’s desk and I also took, well…that’s just the beginning…"

She then presented the collection of props she'd taken, including her Stevie name tag, the hotel keychain for the Roses' room, the book 'Fast Forward To Success – Business The Johnny Rose Way', as well as the playbill for Cabaret, featuring a vintage photo of Moira Rose (Catherine O'Hara).

The show's star and creator Dan Levy recently said that he hoped to revisit the show's universe in the future.

"My hope is that one day we can all get together," he said.

"I see these people all the time. We're in constant contact with each other. So the love is there. The desire to work together is there, and the desire to tell more stories is there.

"I think it just comes down to making sure that it's the right story to tell. And I think we're also proud of the work we did on Schitt's. And when you end on such a high, it really forces you to think very carefully about what the next step is.

"Because whatever that is, is an extension of something that most people don't have, don't get to see in their life. And I really respect the audience in that thing."

Schitt's Creek is available to watch in its entirety on Netflix.
