Scholar Michael Berenbaum will discuss why Holocaust education matters in 2022

North Florida’s Holocaust Education Resource Council (HERC) welcomes nationally recognized Holocaust historian Dr. Michael Berenbaum to Tallahassee on June 14 for an engaging discussion about the importance of understanding Nazi Germany’s “Final Solution” and why it matters in 2022 and beyond.

Berenbaum, a professor of Jewish Studies at the American Jewish University, played a leading role in the creation of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. Professor Berenbaum, who served as Executive Editor of the Second Edition of the Encyclopedia Judaica, is the author and editor of 20 books, scores of scholarly articles, and hundreds of journalistic pieces.

In his discussion, Professor Berenbaum uses the power of truth to confront the dangerous distortion and misuse of this history — most recently to justify Russia’s war against Ukraine.

HERC’s Evening with Dr. Michael Berenbaum is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Temple Israel, 2215 Mahan Drive.

HERC provides instructional guidance, support and resources for educators who teach the history of the Holocaust and educational programs for the community at large.
