The ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital medical staff members are excited and proud to announce that a scholarship fund has been established in memory of longtime community and hospital board of trustees member Arlene Walsh.

The scholarship fund will help support students seeking post-secondary education in the medical field.  More information about the application process will be communicated to county high schools in early 2023.

“Arlene was always an advocate for the hospital and its staff, helping to ensure that we had what we needed to deliver the highest quality care to the community,” said Dr. Ken McNamee, ProMedica physician and board of trustees member. “This scholarship honors Arlene’s dedication to improving the community while supporting local youth.”

Jean Foster, Arlene’s daughter, said her family was very humbled and honored when they heard about the scholarship fund in her mother’s honor.

“Education and health care in our local community have always been extremely important to her," Foster said. "So, we appreciate that the ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital medical staff has chosen to honor her memory in this manner.”

Those wishing to honor Arlene and contribute a financial gift to the ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital Medical Staff Arlene R. Walsh Memorial Scholarship may do so online at https://promedica.foundation/walsh.
