School of American Music presents ‘Songs for the Soul’

NEW BUFFALO — The School of American Music presents tenor Matthew Daniel at 3 p.m. March 20 at Converge Community Church, 601 Buffalo St.

A longtime member of the chorus of the Lyric Opera of Chicago and a teacher for the School of American Music and at Culver Academies in Culver, Daniel will be accompanied by pianist Sharon Burke in a program of love songs and arias that spans the ages. He also has served as a director at the South Bend Lyric Opera.

Titled “Songs for the Soul,” the program features Liza Lehmann’s Five Greek Love Songs, selections from Giuseppe Verdi’s “Sei Romanze” and Ralph Vaughan Williams’s Four Hymns, among other works.

Nic Orbovich makes a cameo appearance on viola for Four Hymns.

Current COVID-19 protocols will be observed.
