School board open house set for Tuesday

Mar. 2—The Ashland School Board on Tuesday will host a virtual open house for anybody who's considering running for one of the three positions on the school board set to be filled in the May 18 election.

A link to the 7 p.m. Zoom meeting as well as the meeting ID and passcode can be found under the "events" menu on the homepage of the district website (www.Ashland.k12.or.us).

According to a press release about the meeting, the board is looking for those "interested in doing what is best for students and working collaboratively to help the district achieve its strategic goals of continuous improvement."

Candidates are encouraged to review the role of school boards available on the Oregon School Boards Association website (https:1/4/1/4/getonboardoregon.org 1/4/). In order to qualify, candidates must live in the boundaries of the school district for at least one year prior to the election. The candidate filing process opened Feb. 8 and closes March 18.
