School board races begin

Dec. 9—Races have begun for a number of positions on school boards across Rogers County.

A Board of Education Primary Election will be held Feb. 14 for school board Position 3 at Claremore, Chouteau-Mazie, and Owasso public school districts.

Incumbent Lindsey Baldwin, Issac Erwin and Lee Gonzales are running for Claremore Public Schools.

Brett Drumm, Charlie Coblentz and Josh Vaughn are running for Chouteau-Mazie Public Schools. Neal Kessler, Kristy Moon and Vincent Donaldson are running for Owasso Public Schools.

A candidate must receive at least 50% of the vote during the primary to win election to the school board.

If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will face off in the Board of Education General Election on April 4.

General Election races include Chelsea Public Schools Board Position 5, Inola Public Schools Board Position 3, Oologah-Talala Public Schools Board Position 3 and Sequoyah Public Schools Board Position 3.

Christopher J. French and Meredith Simerly are running for Chelsea Public Schools. Wendy Keener and Margie Elizabeth Richards are running for Inola Public Schools. Lyle Blakley and Scott Canfield are running for Oologah-Talala Public Schools. Gary Armstrong and Taylor Couch are running for Sequoyah Public Schools.
