School district to take bids on new transportation facility

During a recent meeting, Cambridge City School District Board approved a resolution accepting a bid from Colaianni Construction LLC to construct the new transportation facility.

The new facility will be built on a piece of school district property located on Wills Creek Valley Drive near the main campus. The construction of the facility will be paid for with federal COVID relief funds.

Students' last day of school will be changed from May 11 to May 20 due to snow days. Graduation will remain on May 14.

The board approved a one-time, lump-sum stipend payment to each regular employee employed by the board on May 2. The board intends to allocate federal COVID relief funds for this stipend.

In personnel matters, the following were approved: the retire-rehire of EMIS Coordinator Doris Klemann; the resignations of Doug Wilson, Tim Gibson, John Bannan, Maggie Starr, Tiffani Poole, Chris Cowgill, and Kayla Wilkerson; the unpaid leave for Tara Sichina; extended service days for Lew Nicholas; the hiring of Tim Gibson as a substitute bus driver, Jennifer Ball as CIS custodian, Daniel Seckel as CIS custodian, and John Rush as a substitute custodian.

The board approved the hiring of season employees Kirstin Carpenter, Paige Mathews and Laney Carpenter, the unpaid leave of Jennifer Carpenter, Emily Wetherell, and Jennifer Eubanks; and maternity leave for Marissa Moore.

The board approved Jeff Bergeson, Leland Brown, Aaron Carpenter, Misti Dempsey, Angie Douglas, Brad Douglas, Heather Krupar-Kitner, Alicia Schref, Dan Stein, Beau Vincent, Tiffany Chrisman, Debbie Stein, Ryan Resor, Laura Walker, Ashley Waggoner, Charles Withrow Jr., Tate Coburn, Amy Benson, Tresa Coburn, Josh Hatfield, Heather King, and Theresa Jones as volunteers for the 8th grade Washington D.C. trip.

The board approved the three-year administrative/personal service contract for Jill Clay and a four-year administrative/personal services contract for Carmen Feldner.

In athletic personnel matters, the board approved: Bob Shephard as softball coach, Aaron Mathews as assistant softball coach, Mike Birkhimer as JV softball coach, JR Fox as boys’ track coach, Tim Fox and Isiah Abel as assistant boys’ track coaches, Tamara Gibson as girls’ track coach, Kevin Gunn as assistant girls’ track coach, Logan McCort, Bryan Craft and Melissa Haines as Middle School track coaches, Jamaal Lowery as head baseball coach, and Tim Gibson as boys’ tennis coach.

The board also approved Alexis Wilkinson, Jason Kenworthy, Mark Jamiel, Stephanie Massey, Jenna Hatfield, Rylee Rogers, John Valentine, Austin Campbell, and Karen Goggin as athletic volunteers.

The next board meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. April 14 at the Garfield Administrative Center.
