Students sought for STEM challenge

NASA is inviting middle and high school students to participate in its TechRise Student Challenge.

Groups of four or more students are asked to submit to design an experiment that can be tested on a high-altitude balloon or rocket-powered lander.

Winning teams will each receive $1,500 to build their payloads and be awarded an assigned spot on a NASA-sponsored commercial high-altitude balloon flight. Flight tests will offer more than four hours of float time at approximately 70,000 feet and provide exposure to Earth's atmosphere plus views of our planet.

Women in ag class planned

Purdue Extension will offer a four-week course starting next month meant to assist women with farm finances.

The virtual courses begin Nov. 28. Each session runs from 10 a.m. to noon.

The discussion-based workshop will connect women and subject-matter experts in the areas of financial records and interpreting results. Participants should plan on attending each of the four workshop dates.

The course requires participants to have an internet connection. Women will find many opportunities for questions, sharing and connecting with the presenters and other participants. Upon completion of this program, participants will have a better understanding of how financial records can be used to make decisions.

Registration is $20 per participant and class size is limited to 20. Register by Nov. 22 at https://cvent.me/WPkAML.

For more information, or if you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in this program, contact Mathias Ingle at rmingle@purdue.edu or 765-456-2313 by Nov. 22.
