Schools Across Greece Set to Close Amid 'Dangerous' Weather Conditions

Greek officials ordered precautionary measures to take effect across parts of the country on Friday, October 15, due to worsening weather conditions.

Severe storms flooded Athens and other parts of the Attica region on Thursday, local media reported. This footage filmed by Anna Tsironi, who said it was taken in the municipality of Kallithea on Thursday, shows people wading through floodwaters.

Schools across Corfu, Samos, Ikaria, Attica, Evia, and Halkidiki were closed on Friday as “dangerous” weather was expected to continue, according to the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Stylianidis. Credit: Anna Tsironi via Storyful
