DJ SHORT: You might not know it, but Jonathan Schoop of the Tigers has been one of the hottest hitters in the game over the past month. It's true, really.

Including a homer on Thursday, June 10 against the Mariners, Schoop has hit seven homers in the span of 13 games. He was hitting 0.198 through the end of April. But he's basically been a 0.300 hitter since then.

And a look under the hood doesn't show a ton of good luck here either. His batting average on balls in play is only slightly higher than his career average. What he has done this year is to be more selective in a way we haven't seen since 2017. And 2017 was a significant year for Schoop, as he hit 0.293 with 32 home runs and 92 RBIs with the Orioles. Schoop has tailed off since then. But power has always been part of his game. And if he keeps up this more disciplined approach, he could turn out to be a significant bargain in fantasy leagues.
