Schriever woman killed after her motorcycle collides head-on with pickup in Chackbay

A Schriever woman died Sunday after the motorcycle she was driving crossed the centerline along La. 20 in Chackbay and collided head-on with a pickup truck, police said today.

Tricia Vicknair, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Police Troop C said.

The crash occurred just before 2 p.m. as Vicknair was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle south on La. 20 near La. 307, Troop C said. Vicknair crossed the centerline in a curve, veered into the northbound lane and struck a 2012 Nissan Frontier.

The Nissan's driver and front passenger, who were both wearing seat belts, were taken to a local hospital with what police described as minor injuries.

Vicknair was wearing a DOT-approved helmet.

A toxicology sample, required by state law in all fatal crashes, was collected from both drivers and submitted for analysis.

Troop C has investigated 30 fatal crashes resulting in 34 deaths in 2022.
