Schuh wins Miss Door County 2023, Klaubauf named Outstanding Teen

BRUSSELS - Lindsay Schuh is your new Miss Door County and Kalei Klaubauf is your new Miss Door County Outstanding Teen after they won the titles in the Miss Door County Scholarship Organization pageant held Feb. 4 at Southern Door Community Auditorium.

Schuh, a senior at Sevastopol High School, received a $2,000 scholarship for winning the 2023 crown. The daughter of Chris and Christie Schuh delivered a monologue she wrote on "Unattainable Perfection" for the talent part of the contest and will serve with a social impact initiative of “Kindness Saves: Implementing Kindness in our Communities.”

Klaubauf is a senior at Sturgeon Bay High School and the daughter of Tim and Laura Klaubauf. For her talent, she sang "O Del Mio Dolce Ardor," an aria from the opera "Paride ed Elena" by C.W. Gluck, and her social impact initiative is “The Importance of Music in the Lives of the Young." She earned a $1,000 scholarship for being named Outstanding Teen.

By winning, Schuh will represent Door County in the Miss Wisconsin 2023 pageant, as will Klaubauf in the Miss Wisconsin Teen 2023 pageant, both taking place in June in Oshkosh. The Miss Wisconsin winner will represent the state in the Miss America pageant.

Schuh and Klaubauf also will serve the Door County community by attending community events and taking part in parades and speaking engagements at schools, among other duties.

A total of $6,550 in scholarships was awarded in this year's pageant to the three Miss Door County and six Outstanding Teen contestants. Over its 26 years, the pageant has awarded more than $250,000 in scholarships.

Anna Staudenmaier and Abrielle Lenius were the other two Miss Door County contestants. Each received a $500 nonfinalist scholarship, and Staudenmaier won the $300 Evening Wear Award and Lenius the $100 Miss Congeniality Award.

Among the Door County Teen contestants, Yana Zenefski was named first runner-up, winning a $500 scholarship. She also was awarded the $250 Spritka Sister Scholarship and $100 Quality of Life Award.

Also, Emily Bley, Faith Blackley, Sayde Jeanquart and Anna Dahlke each won a $250 nonfinalist scholarship in the teen competition. Bley also won the $200 Evening Wear Award and Blackley the $100 Teen Spirit Award.
