Schuylkill Valley's Kyle Campbell named state Class 2A girls swimming Coach of the Year

May 4—Schuylkill Valley coach Kyle Campbell has been voted the Class 2A girls swimming Coach of the Year by the Pennsylvania High School Swim Coaches Association.

Campbell, a Schuylkill Valley grad, is the head coach of the girls and boys swimming teams at his alma mater. In seven seasons as the girls head coach, his teams have compiled a 48-19 record, including a 5-2 mark this season in the Central Penn League.

The Panthers, the only Class 2A team in the CPL, finished third in the eight-team league behind Wilson and Muhlenberg.

Campbell led the Schuylkill Valley girls team to its fifth straight District 3 Class 2A championship and a third-place finish at the PIAA Championships. He also earned Class 2A Coach of the Year honors following the 2018-19 season.

Patrick Wenzel of state champion North Allegheny was voted the Class 3A girls Coach of the Year.

Boys coaches of the year were Kurt Sprowls of Bishop McDevitt in 2A and Tim O'Connor of Emmaus in 3A.
