Science Museum of Western Virginia announces grand opening of ‘The Eye’

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — For more than 12 years, The Eye has been snuggled in the Star City. Now, the Science Museum of Western Virginia is getting ready to bring it back to life.

The museum announced that on Feb. 14, The Eye Planetarium will open to the public welcoming back the mysteries of the cosmos. The planetarium offers immersive full-dome films, and educational programs for all ages.

“The Eye is not just a planetarium; it’s a multi-sensory experience that takes visitors from the wonders of the cosmos to the mysteries of the ocean depths,” said Mary Roberts-Baako, Executive Director. “We are thrilled to reintroduce this beloved landmark as a cutting-edge performance space for the Roanoke Valley and beyond.”
