SCISA shifting teams up and down in latest reclassification. Here’s what we know

Realignment won’t be just limited to the public schools for the next school year.

The S.C. Independent School Association will have its own realignment for the 2024-26 school years and recently sent out classification proposals to its schools.

Schools will have seven days to appeal their classification. Once appeals are heard, classifications will be finalized and region placements will be released.

Locally, Northside Christian in Lexington is proposed to make a leap, going from Class 2A to 3A in football and 3A to 4A in other sports. The move would put the Crusaders in the same class for baseball, basketball, volleyball and other non-football sports with Midlands private schools Ben Lippen, Cardinal Newman, Hammond and Heathwood Hall.

Northside is planning to appeal the move. according to athletic director Dean Howell.

Class 4A, SCISA’s biggest class, is expanding from 14 to 19 teams for non-football sports.

Other highlights from the proposed realignment:

Palmetto Christian in Mount Pleasant moves from Class 3A to 4A for everything but football.
