SCITUATE – The Scituate Cultural Council is accepting applications for arts and culture grants.

Each year, the council receives money from the Massachusetts Cultural Council to distribute to projects in town, such as exhibits, festivals, field trips, artist residencies or performances. The council has $8,000 to distribute this year.

Last year, it handed out 13 grants totaling $4,600 for local projects. Recipients included the Pilgrim Festival Chorus, the Satuit Concert Band, the Choral Art Society of the South Shore, the Friends of Holly Hill Farm, the Fuller Craft Museum, a Halloween performance titled “Goblins and Giggles,” the Scituate/Sucy-en-Brie Sister City Committee, the Scituate Historical Society, the North and South Rivers Watershed Association, the James Library and Center for the Arts, the Brockton Symphony Orchestra, the Community Garden Club of Duxbury, the Talking Information Center and the South Shore Art Center.

Applicants do not need to be Scituate residents. The deadline to submit a grant application is Oct. 17. For more information and to apply, go to https://massculturalcouncil.org/local-council/scituate.
