Brazen, scooter-riding thieves are terrorizing pedestrians in the Bronx and Manhattan by cruising up behind them and ripping pricey jewelry off their necks, police said Saturday.

The crime spree began March 18 when two men on a black scooter pulled up behind a 47-year-old man walking on E. Fordham Rd. near Valentine Ave. in Fordham Manor about 12:40 p.m., cops said.

They yanked an $8,000 gold chain off his neck and zoomed off westbound on E. Tremont Rd., said police.

One of the thieves cruised over to Washington Heights and struck again about twenty minutes later — this time armed with a gun.

The crook pulled up behind a 42-year-old man standing in front of a building on W. 181 St. near Audubon Ave. and pointed a gun at him before snatching two gold chains worth $10,000, police said.

The man took off southbound on Audubon Ave. on the same black scooter.

Two days later, at around 4:35 p.m. on March 20, one of the men robbed a pedestrian crossing at E. Fordham Rd. and Tiebout Ave. in Fordham Heights, cops said.

The thief zoomed up behind a 30-year-old woman on a scooter and ripped two gold chains off her neck.

He took off eastbound on Fordham Rd. with the swag valued at about $500, police said.

The next day, March 21, one of the thieves rode back to Washington Heights where he targeted a 30-year-old man at the intersection of Wadsworth Ave. and W. 180 St. about 12:50 p.m.

He made off with two gold chains worth about $2,000.

On March 23, one of the men rode up behind a 62-year-old man on Southern Blvd. near Aldus St. in Foxhurst, the Bronx, at about 1:35 p.m. and stole two gold chains valued at $6,600 off his neck.

The crew evidently took a few weeks off from crime before heading back to the same neighborhood they had most recently hit up.

On April 17, one of the thieves pulled up behind a 46-year-old man on Southern Blvd. near Aldus St. in Foxhurst about 11:30 a.m., cops said.

He stole $4,000 worth of gold chains from the man before he sped away.

No one was injured in any of the robberies, believed to be committed by at least two different men.
