VAN NUYS, CA — To celebrate its 71st anniversary, Southland NORMS diners are offering a 71-cent breakfast deal Wednesday at all locales, including the Van Nuys restaurant.

For one day only — Oct. 28 from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. — patrons can order the special (two eggs, two bacon or sausage and two from-scratch hotcakes) for either on-site dining or to-go.

Restrictions include: limit one per guest for dine-in; limit two per guest for to-go/pick up orders; and no substitutions.

Known for its hearty breakfasts, sandwiches, burgers, classic dinners and familiar "Googie" sign, the first NORMS opened in 1949 on La Cienega Boulevard in the Hollywood area, making it one of the first 24/7 restaurants in Southern California. There now are roughly 20 locations across Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside counties.

In the San Fernando Valley, NORMS is at 13636 Sherman Way in Van Nuys.

A new location planned for Encino, at 16573 Ventura Blvd., has delayed its opening to sometime in 2021, due to COVID-19 related restrictions, management said.
