Boys basketball

ASHLAND 78, ONTARIO 67 Ashland's Luke Denbow tied the school single-game scoring record in a nonleague win over Ontario. The senior scored 42 points, tying Tom Malone's mark that was set against Brunswick in 1970. Denbow made seven 3-pointers, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished six assists and recorded five steals. Grayson Steury added 21 points for the Arrows.

LOUDONVILLE 53, KINGSWAY CHRISTIAN 50 Loudonville knocked off Kingsway Christian in a nonconference clash. Isaac Gessner scored a team-high 16 points to lead the Redbirds.

SOUTH CENTRAL 62, MAPLETON 44 Isaac Blair and Brandon Mitchell both scored 17 points as South Central beat Firelands Conference rival Mapleton. Hagen Adams added eight points and 15 rebounds for SC. Jed Brannon (14 points) and Cam Sloter (12) paced the Mounties.

CRESTVIEW 65, ST. PAUL 55 Crestview picked up an FC win over St. Paul. Jarek Ringler paced the Cougars with 14 points. Heath Kash chipped in 13, while Austin Wells added 12.

MONROEVILLE 60, NEW LONDON 31 New London fell to Monroeville in an FC battle. Conner Byrd led NL with 15 points.

MAUMEE BAY CLASSIC Ashland finished 10th out of 52 teams at the loaded Maumee Bay Classic. Milan Parobek (126) and John Metzger (157) both finished third to lead the Arrows. Roman Parobek (fifth at 120) and Griffin Adkins (eighth, 138) also placed for Ashland.

FREDDIE INVITE South Central placed 11th out of 13 teams. Brandon Smith finished second at 165 to lead the Trojans, while Diton Farnsworth placed third at 113.

Girls basketball

MAPLETON 52, SOUTH CENTRAL 36 Sara Hickey scored a game-high 19 points as Mapleton downed South Central in FC play. Holly Earl added 10 points for the Mounties. Kendyl Beverly led the Trojans with 16 points.

CRESTVIEW 44, ST. PAUL 33 Crestview had three players score in double figures in an FC win over St. Paul. Mary Leeper led the way for the Cougars with 13 points. Frankie Dinsmore added 12 and Anna McFarland 11.

MONROEVILLE 34, NEW LONDON 26 New London came up short against Monroeville in FC action. Madison Rowland paced the Wildcats with 11 points.

LOUDONVILLE 55, ST. PETER'S 48 Loudonville picked up a Mid-Buckeye Conference win over Mansfield St. Peter's, rallying from an early 12-5 deficit with a 37-19 second-half run. Zach Frankford scored 19 of his game-high 27 points in the second half to lead the Redbirds.

CRESTVIEW 73, PLYMOUTH 39 Crestview knocked off Plymouth in a Firelands Conference battle. Owen Barker led the Cougars with 18 points. Heath Kash added 12 and Jarek Ringler chipped in 11.

DALTON 91, HILLSDALE 45 A 41-point outburst in the second quarter erased a 22-18 opening-quarter deficit as Dalton rolled past Hillsdale in Wayne County Athletic League action. The Falcons were led by Braylen Jarvis with 13 points and Cole Sinnett, who drained three 3-pointers and had nine points.

CHIPPEWA 77, NORTHWESTERN 45 Northwestern fell to Chippewa in a WCAL clash. Brett Alberts paced the Huskies with 17 points, while Alex Ciolek chipped in 10.

SOUTH CENTRAL 38, NEW LONDON 26 Kendyl Beverly scored a game-high 16 points to lead South Central past Firelands Conference rival New London. Madison Rowland led the Wildcats with 10 points.

SOUTH CENTRAL 63, NEW LONDON 24 Isaac Blair scored a game-high 24 points as South Central cruised to a Firelands Conference win over New London. Kayden Hauler added 10 points for the Trojans, while Sam Seidel chipped in seven. Conner Byrd led the Wildcats with eight points.

CRESTVIEW 40, PLYMOUTH 23 Crestview stayed unbeaten in the Firelands Conference with a win over Plymouth. Anna McFarland scored a game-high 16 points to pace the Cougars, while Frankie Dinsmore and Emma Aumend both added seven points.

NORWAYNE 49, NORTHWESTERN 24 A 24-7 opening quarter run allowed Norwayne to take control against Northwestern en route to a Wayne County Athletic League win. Caydence Scale and Josie Wright both scored six points to pace the Huskies.

CHIPPEWA 76, HILLSDALE 34 Chippewa bolted to a 50-15 halftime lead and never looked back in notching a WCAL win over Hillsdale. Lauren Bishop paced the Falcons with 12 points, and Sydney Elliott scored seven.

ASHLAND 2542, LEXINGTON 2108 Ashland cruised to a win over Ohio Cardinal Conference rival Lexington. Jada Baker led the Arrows with games of 227 and 214 for a team-high 441 series. Other top performers for AHS were Kelsey Baker (184-211-395), Emma Barger (148-171-319) and Makayla Dreibelbis (169-146-315).

ASHLAND 2463, LEXINGTON 2423 Ashland picked up a narrow OCC win over Lexington. Aiden Brown paced AHS with games of 223 and 215 for a team-leading 438 series. Parker Grissinger (191-181-372), Matthias Wood (198-172-370) and Brayden Long (197-138-335) also bowled well for the Arrows.

BLACK RIVER 58, OBERLIN 12 Zoey Bungard and Riley Kubitz combined for 40 points to lead Black River past Oberlin in a Lorain County 8 clash. Bungard scored a game-high 21 points, while Kubitz added 19.

OPEN DOOR CHRISTIAN 71, MAPLETON 66 Mapleton fell to Open Door Christian in nonleague action. Collin Grundy paced the Mounties with 20 points. Kyle Sloter added 16 points, while Cam Sloter chipped in 12.

ASHLAND 41, ORRVILLE 35 Makaree Chapman scored a game-high 16 points to lead Ashland past Orrville in a nonleague battle. Klaira Paramore added seven points for the Arrows, while Lauren Green and Lilly Pool both scored six.

WELLINGTON 43, NEW LONDON 17 New London fell to Wellington in a nonconference clash. Emilee Rowland paced the Wildcats with nine points and five rebounds.
