Scores and highlights: Somerset boys blank Seekonk; Durfee field hockey tops Apponequet

The fall sports season is heading into the final month before the start of tournament time for Fall River area teams.

Take a look at highlights from Monday's local high school action:

Boys soccer: Bishop Connolly at Diman

SCORE: Diman 5, Bishop Connolly 2

LOCATION: Diman

DATE: Oct. 17

RECORD: Diman, 7-6-1 (5-1-1 in Mayflower)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals defeated Bishop Connolly at home. Nathan Auclair and Aiden Furtado each scored two goals and had an assist for Diman. Carlos dos Santos also scored and had an assist. Andrew Gesner also had an assist. "This was a must win for us after a tough loss Saturday," Bengals head coach Emanuel Botelho said. "Players stepped up today In a big way by applying the pressure on their one-third creating opportunities and capitalizing on them. Overall the team played well, and [we] hope to continue tomorrow afternoon."

NEXT UP: The Bengals host Southeastern on Tuesday.

Boys soccer: Somerset Berkley vs. Seekonk

HIGHLIGHTS: Cam Freitas netted three goals to power the Raiders to a shutout win over Seekonk. Nicolas Scanlon (assist) and Derrick Camara (two assists) also chipped in with a goal for SBR. Cam Rose and Marco Massarini each added an assist. Evan Furtado stopped seven shots on net for the shutout win.

Girls soccer: Atlantis Charter at Avon

SCORE: Avon 6, Atlantis Charter 2

LOCATION: Avon

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 4-2

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons saw their three-game winning streak come to end after falling to Avon on the road. Destiny Rodney netted a pair of goals for Atlantis Charter. Isabella Dos Reis returned from her injury and Sophia Ferreira debuted in her first varsity match. Jasmine Almeida earned Player of the Match, while Sophia Esteves and Cidney Barboza received honorable mention.

NEXT UP: Atlantis Charter hosts Bishop Connolly on Saturday.

Girls soccer: Joseph Case vs Fairhaven

SCORE: Fairhaven 6, Joseph Case 0

LOCATION: Joseph Case

RECORD: Joseph Case, 3-8-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals lost to undefeated league opponent Fairhaven. Goalkeeper Emma Villarrubia made 13 saves in net. Ryleigh Oagles had a strong game in her first varsity start.

HIGHLIGHTS: Mia Gentile's goal in the 25th minute of the first half enabled the Raiders to tie their game with Seekonk. Lauren Roosa chipped in with an assist. SBR freshman goalie Maddie Willis made seven saves, including one on a penalty kick.

Field hockey: Durfee vs. Apponequet

SCORE: Durfee 4, Apponequet 0

LOCATION: Durfee

RECORD: Durfee, 10-2-3 (5-1-1 in Southeast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Hilltoppers blanked Apponequet at home on Pink Night. Shakira Cadet had two goals while Jia Syronn (assist) and Kacey Curran each netted a goal. Toni Freitas chipped in with an assist. Kailey Hutchinson had three saves in net. "Today offensively, we had a great push and put a lot of pressure on them," Durfee head coach Nicole Henrique said. "Ellia Delisle and Josie Caine controlled our midfield and our defensive trio of Emily Curran, Paitynn Botelho and Brooke Macedo was solid the whole game. Great team win."

Field hockey: Somerset Berkley vs Old Rochester

SCORE: Somerset Berkley 6, Old Rochester 0

RECORD: Somerset Berkley, 10-2-1 (8-1 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders blanked league opponent Old Rochester at home. Karissa Albin scored two goals and assisted on one. Ava Pontes chipped in with a goal and had two assists. Addie Finlaw had a goal and an assist while Ella Vaught and Tatum Swanson each had a goal. Goalie Jordan Theriault made one save.

NEXT UP: The Raiders travel to Seekonk on Friday.

Girls Volleyball: Atlantis Charter at Upper Cape

SCORE: Atlantis Charter 3, Upper Cape 0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-23)

LOCATION: Upper Cape

DATE: Oct. 17

RECORD: Atlantis Charter, 6-6

HIGHLIGHTS: The Tritons swept three straight sets on the road against Upper Cape. Rebecca de Moreas had two aces, nine kills, and two blocks. Sarah Moniz finished with two aces and four kills. Kailany Ortiz-Garcia had an ace and three kills.

Girls Volleyball: Joseph Case at Seekonk

SCORE: Joseph Case 3, Seekonk 0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-17)

RECORD: Joseph Case, 15-1 (10-0 in South Coast Conference)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Cardinals swept all three sets from league opponent Seekonk on the road. Olivia Silva led the way for Case with 19 assists. Hannah Storm recorded nine kills while Jamie Moniz had five kills. "Total team effort in the league win," Cardinals head coach Brendan Kelly said.

NEXT UP: The Cardinals host Wareham on Tuesday.

HIGHLIGHTS: The Bengals took three straight sets against Old Colony on Senior Night. Hannah Martin led Diman with 10 aces and 11 assists. Avery Rounds chipped in with three aces and 17 digs. Madison Pereira finished with four aces, seven digs, and a kill shot. Sarah Moniz had an ace, four kills, and four digs.

Girls Volleyball: Somerset Berkley at Apponequet

SCORE: Somerset Berkley 3, Apponequet 1 (25-21, 25-19, 16-25, 25-21)

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raiders took three of four sets against league opponent Apponequet on the road. Abigail Vieira led the charge for SBR with two aces, 12 kills and 13 digs. Annabella Karpicz had four aces and nine kills. Sophia Schoonover contributed five kills and five blocks. Caroline Puccini finished with two aces and 14 digs.

Cross County: Somerset Berkley, Dighton-Rehoboth at New Bedford

SCORE: Somerset Berkley boys 25, New Bedford 33, Somerset Berkley boys 27, Dighton-Rehoboth 32; New Bedford 26, Somerset Berkley girls 31, Dighton-Rehoboth girls 20, Somerset Berkley 37

LOCATION: New Bedford

RECORD: Somerset Berkley boys: 3-3, Somerset Berkley girls: 0-6

HIGHLIGHTS: The Raider boys swept New Bedford and Dighton-Rehoboth to even its record at .500. Top finishers for SBR were Jack Hansen (18:16), Logan Pacheco (19:17), Tyler Scanlon (19:21) and Matthew Barbosa (19:25). For the girls, Lara Nohra (25:47) was the top female finishers followed by Grace Kayata (27:23) and Breannah McKeon (29:45). "This was a very tough meet all around on a fairly tough course," Raiders head coach Keegan LaRue said. "We had a lot of great performances. [We] fought for each and every place for the boys' to pull off a narrow win."

NEXT UP: SBR will compete at South Coast Conference Championships on Oct. 29.
