Scores of men and women become official citizens at Herrick District Library

HOLLAND — Holland welcomed 122 new citizens to the United States in two naturalization ceremonies at Herrick District Library on Thursday, Oct. 20.

Herrick District Library Assistant Director Natalie Williams, Intersection Ministries Pastor Tito Venegas and Movement West Michigan Executive Director Kory Plockmeyer were set to deliver congratulatory remarks at both ceremonies.

Candidates came from 49 nations, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Burma, Cambodia, Ghana, Greece, India, Iran, Jamaica, Kenya, the Netherlands, Peru, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Yemen.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services often participates in naturalization ceremonies at museums, schools, libraries and other notable locations to celebrate the conclusion of an immigrant's journey to citizenship and honor the commitment they've shown along the way.
