A quick recap of the past week of athletics at The College of Wooster:

TRACK & FIELD (NCAC Championships – men 7th/9, women 6th/8)

Wooster won four events and earned 12 All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors at the NCAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, where the men took seventh of nine teams and the women were sixth of eight programs.

Sophomore Dylan Garretson started the first-place finishes off in the pole vault, where he cleared 14 feet, 11.5 inches. Garretson’s first-place finish marked his fourth at the NCAC Championships, and the sophomore is now tied for fifth-place for most NCAC first-place finishes in program history.

First-year Isaiah Kidd won the long jump at 22 feet, 9 inches, and he became the first athlete to sweep the NCAC long jump titles in a year since Ohio Wesleyan University’s Juwaun Tye in 2017.

Senior Isabelle Hoover capped Friday’s first-place finishes with a tape-breaking time of 36:51.49 in the 10,000 meters.

Senior Will McMichael won his fourth NCAC 400 meters title on Saturday. McMichael’s winning time was 48.51.

SOFTBALL (18-23)

Wooster knocked off sixth-ranked DePauw University in the opening game of the NCAC Tournament 7-6 before losing to Hiram College 3-0 and DePauw 5-0. Sophomore shortstop Stephanie Griffin-Sanchez hit the go-ahead home run in the top of the seventh inning.

Earlier in the win, Wooster logged a five-spot in the fourth inning. Senior third baseman Molly Likins’ RBI double marked career RBI 85, a new career program record. Senior left fielder Brooke Swain tied the game at six with a two-run double that capped the fourth inning. Sophomore Rachael Dudziak held DePauw to one run in seven innings of work.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE (13-5)

Kenyon College beat Wooster 20-8 in the semifinals of the NCAC Tournament on Wednesday. Sophomore Ciara O’Connor and senior Syd Schuster were named to the all-tournament team. The all-tourney duo combined for five of Wooster’s eight goals in the game.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Wooster claimed three NCAC honors, plus a major award, as first-year Janaki Jagannathan was named NCAC Newcomer of the Year, marking the fifth time the Scots have claimed that honor. Jagannathan and sophomore Otilia Oita were second-team All-NCAC selections, while first-year Cherry Patlolla was an honorable mention selection in singles.

Jagannathan and Oita were a first-team pick in doubles.

MEN’S TENNIS

Seniors Alon Liberman and Austin Hanna earned All-NCAC honors for the Scots, with Liberman getting first-team recognition in singles and doubles. Hanna joined Liberman on the first-team doubles squad. Of note, Liberman and Hanna are the first Scots to earn first-team All-NCAC doubles honors since 2018.
